ArmInfo. As part of his ongoing visit to the Syunik region, Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopyrkin visited the Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Plant yesterday.
According to the Russian Embassy in Armenia, during a meeting with the plant's management, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission was briefed on large-scale plans for technological modernization of production, extensive social support programs for the plant's employees, and measures to develop its personnel training system.
Russian Trade Representative in Armenia S.V. Solomin and representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Russian Export Center, who participated in the meeting, informed the meeting about the opportunities for leveraging advanced Russian technologies and modern solutions to optimize the production process.
As a reminder, Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC) is the largest mining company in Armenia. The plant operates the Kajaran copper-molybdenum deposit. The plant has approximately 150 years' supply of ore. The plant produces molybdenum and copper concentrates. Molybdenum concentrate contains 50% molybdenum, and the copper content in copper concentrate is at least 15%. The company's annual production capacity is approximately 22 million tons of ore. ZCMC's share of global molybdenum production is approximately 3.8%.
