Armenia`s Tourism Committee planning  to diversify  domestic tourism  product

The Armenian Tourism Committee aims to diversify the domestic tourism product, as stated by Lusine Gevorgyan, Chairperson of the Tourism  Committee, on September 26, during a conference entitled "Road to the  Future: Domestic Tourism Innovations and Community Potential," held  as part of the domestic tourism Discover Armenia  exhibition.

Citing data from the RA Statistics Committee for 2024, she reported  that the flow of domestic tourists amounted to 3 million. Gevorgyan  noted that this figure is showing an upward trend.

"And with our tools, we are trying to promote the growth of domestic  tourists However,  we ourselves must discover our homeland and all  the tourism potential we have," said the Chairperson of the Tourism  Committee.

Regarding her participation in the international conference on  tourism standards  in Tbilisi a few days earlier, Gevorgyan pointed  out that international experts had noted that tourists in Yerevan  only visit churches, and that the country is of interest to them from  a gastronomic perspective.

In this regard, Gevorgyan stated that the department aims to  diversify domestic tourism products.

Additionally, noting that Armenian cuisine is authentic and one of  the most interesting and delicious in the world, she emphasized the  need to present and promote the cuisines of all regions of Armenia  and their distinctive features. 

Note that according to the RA Statistical Committee, in January-July  the number of domestic tourists increased by 6%, amounting to 390,847  people, of which 70.4% organized their vacation in the regions of  Armenia (an increase of 4.5% over the year), 23.1% went there for  business purposes (an increase of 10.3% per annum), 4% - for health  purposes (an increase of 79.5% over the year), and 0.4% - for  educational purposes (a decline of 30.3% per annum).
