ArmInfo.Russia is Armenia's largest foreign trade and investment partner, and Russian economic operators are successfully working in such systemically important sectors of the country's economy as information technology, mining, fuel and energy, nuclear energy, transport logistics, banking, and others, as stated by Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin in an interview with the newspaper "Syunyats Yerkir."
According to him, companies with Russian capital are the largest taxpayers in the Republic's budget, while actively participating in the implementation of social projects and programs. "We proceed from the premise that our Armenian partners, in turn, are interested in preserving and enhancing the decisive contribution of trade and economic cooperation with Russia to the growth of prosperity and strengthening the country's socioeconomic stability," the Ambassador added.
Kopirkin also noted that the Russian embassy and trade mission are in close contact with domestic businessmen, as well as with responsible Armenian officials.
"So far, no alarming signals have been received from Russian economic operators. Furthermore, we have a smoothly functioning bilateral mechanism-the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation at the deputy prime minister level-where we discuss all outstanding economic issues in a constructive manner inherent in our allied relations," the Ambassador said, in response to whether businesses in Armenia with Russian capital could suffer the fate of Electric Networks of Armenia.
