
ArmInfo.EU alignment is our strategic priority. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated this in an interview with Forbes. He stated that the state is adopting European standards, legislation, and certification systems to improve trade access and product quality.
The Minister explained that this includes investments in laboratories, quality control, and regulatory bodies. In this regard, he emphasized that Armenian government support is increasingly focused on businesses producing high-tech products that meet EU benchmarks.
"At the same time, we are strengthening institutional capacity to manage these transitions. EU integration pushes us to modernize across the board, from legal frameworks to digital infrastructure, and brings us closer to a sustainable and competitive economic model that benefits all Armenians," the Minister emphasized.
Note that, according to the RA Statistics Committee, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the EU increased by 9.6% in January-July 2025, reaching $1.4 billion. Specifically, exports increased by 4.5% to $346.7 million, while imports increased by 11.5% to $1.05 billion. The EU's share of total foreign trade increased to 12.2% over the year, including 7.8% of exports and 15% of imports.
