ArmInfo. In the first phase of the universal health insurance system (starting in 2026) in Armenia, the annual health insurance package will be 129,600 drams, as stated by Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan during a press conference on October 1.
She noted that this amount was determined taking into account the country's economic development and capabilities. The package will include screening programs for early detection of diseases, inpatient treatment, medication provision, and emergency services. The Minister noted that the package covers areas with the highest number of illnesses and fatalities, according to statistics. Starting in 2026, the following groups will be eligible for 100% state subsidized health insurance: children under 18, seniors aged 65 and older, citizens aged 18-65 with disabilities, and socially vulnerable individuals with a score of 28 or higher.
Additionally, in 2026, 190,000 people with a monthly income exceeding 200,000 drams, will also benefit beneficiaries from the universal health insurance system.
A total of 1.6 million people are expected to join the system in 2026. The Minister specified that only Armenian residents will be able to take advantage of the insurance package.
