
ArmInfo.Revenue from Armenia's trade sector in January-August 2025 slowed to 3.9% (from 20.4% a year earlier), amounting to 4.1 trillion drams ($10.6 billion). According to the RA Statistics Committee, trade turnover in Armenia increased by 1.2% in August of this year, reaching 589.5 billion drams ($1.5 billion).
Specifically, wholesale trade in January-August 2025 saw its annual growth slow from 9.4% to 4.6%, generating revenue of 1.260 trillion drams, while retail trade slowed from 28.7% to 3.4%, generating revenue of 2.717 trillion drams. Moreover, the volume of car purchases and sales in January-August 2025 increased from a 7.8% decline to a 6% growth, amounting to 163.3 billion drams.
In the retail trade structure, the largest turnover is provided by stores (including supermarkets) - 83.5% or 1.1 trillion drams (with an annual growth of 4%), other retail facilities - 11% or 139.6 billion drams (with an annual growth of 12.4%), followed by consumer goods markets - 3.4% or 42.6 billion (with an annual decline of 3.5%), kiosks - 1.2% or 15 billion (with an annual growth of 1.1%), and agricultural markets - 0.8% or 10.7 billion (with an annual growth of 5.3%). Wholesale trade dominates Armenia's overall trade turnover at 65.6%, followed by retail at 30.4%, with the remaining 4% coming from automobile sales.
The average exchange rate for the dram in January-August 2025 was 389.39 drams/$1, and in August, it was 383.19 drams/$1.
