
ArmInfo. Cybersecurity has become the cornerstone of national security, public trust, and digital governance, as stated by Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan during his speech at the opening of the ITU - Global CyberDrill Armenia 2025.
He emphasized the growing importance of implementing cybersecurity policies, given the globally evolving and expanding cyber threats. The Minister highlighted the need for clear and targeted steps, which the government is currently undertaking in cooperation with the private sector, industry experts, and international partners. He outlined the institutional and legislative reforms initiated by the government to establish unified security standards and response mechanisms for effective and systematic cybersecurity management.
According to the Minister, Armenia strives to be part of an open and collaborative system where information sharing, threat assessment, and joint activities contribute to strengthening overall resilience. In conclusion, Hayrapetyan emphasized the importance of cooperation with international partners, particularly the ITU and regional organizations, to improve cybersecurity response capabilities.
According to a statement from the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, the ITU International Cyber Drill 2025 is a comprehensive national awareness-raising and capacity-building campaign aimed at strengthening cooperation between specialized teams and national structures working in international cybersecurity. The event, taking place from October 22 to 24 in Yerevan, will feature participants sharing their experiences, presenting effective approaches to responding to cyber incidents, and building long-term partnerships to create a new level of digital security. The event is organized by the Information Systems Agency of Armenia, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), with the support of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, as well as local and international partners.
