
ArmInfo. Zaruhi Muradyan, Executive Director of the Vine and Wine Foundation of Armenia (VWFA), received a delegation of leading wine experts, including renowned sommelier Kumi Yoshizumi, and investors from Japan.
According to the Foundation's press service, the delegation, led by Yutaka Aoki, the Japanese Ambassador to Armenia, arrived in Armenia as part of the Business Matching program. The parties discussed ways to enhance Armenian-Japanese trade and economic ties, as well as opportunities to export Armenian products, particularly wine, to the Japanese market. They also touched on Armenia's participation in international beverage and food exhibitions held in Japan, including FOODEX Japan 2025, in which Armenia participated for the first time with ten leading winemaking companies. Following the exhibition, Japanese consumers and buyers expressed interest in Armenian wine.
It should be noted that, according to the Statistical Committee, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Japan increased by 18% in January-August 2025, totaling $94.5 million. Specifically, exports increased 2.6-fold to $15.4 million, while imports grew by 6.7% to $79.1 million.
According to the RA Customs Service, in 2024, Armenia exported only 43.5 liters of wine to Japan, while in 2023, the volume amounted to 3.5 thousand liters.
