ArmInfo. In the modern world, transport plays a vital role in ensuring sustainable socioeconomic development. This was stated by David Khudatyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, speaking at the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor investor conference held in Tashkent.
According to the MTUI press service, David Khudatyan participated in a meeting of transport ministers from the EU, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Black Sea region. In his speech, he noted that investments in transport infrastructure are investments in the future: in mobility, economic stability, and long-term development. "In this regard, large-scale work has been underway in the Republic of Armenia in recent years to improve the road network, and an investment program is being implemented to build the North-South Highway, which will stretch from the border with the Islamic Republic of Iran to the border with the Republic of Georgia, with a planned length of 556 km," the minister said. Khudatyan noted that the "Crossroads of the World" project, developed by the Armenian government, is also a strategic transport and logistics project aimed at unblocking and developing transport links in the region, transforming the South Caucasus into a key transit hub between East and West, North and South.
"Unblocking transport links and implementing the TRIPP project, which is one of the components of the "Crossroads of the World" project, will be a key factor in establishing peace, stability, and prosperity in the region," the minister said, adding that Armenia supports the further strengthening of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route coordination platform and considers it appropriate to expand its functionality.
