
ArmInfo. During a joint meeting, Armenian Ambassador to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan and Greek Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Christos Dermentzopoulos reaffirmed the importance of developing bilateral cooperation between the countries in high technology.
According to the press service of the Greek Embassy in Armenia, they noted that this area is a strategic priority for both countries. The Ambassador and deputy minister discussed progress in digitalization, high technology, and cooperation, as outlined in the protocol of the meeting of the Armenian-Greek Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, Technical, and Scientific Cooperation. The parties also recalled that a memorandum of understanding has been agreed upon between the Armenian Ministry of High-Tech Industry and the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance, to be signed during an upcoming visit.
During the meeting, the Ambassador noted that Armenia has made significant progress in high technology and innovation in recent years, achieving double-digit growth. It was also mentioned that Armenia's high rating is also reflected in the fact that Firebird, a company previously operating in the US and specializing in cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure technologies, has received export approval to the US and announced its first $500 million investment in Armenia. Mkrtchyan also presented the concept of the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, a successful brand for high-tech education.
For his part, the Greek Deputy Minister of Digital Governance announced his intention to organize additional discussions on cooperation with Armenia in high technology in the near future. Alexandros Boudouris, Diplomatic Advisor to the Greek Minister of Digital Governance, also attended the meeting. He highly appreciated the participation of the Armenian delegation and Armenian companies in the DEFEA 2025 I exhibition.
