ArmInfo. Edmon Marukyan, leader of the Bright Armenia" party and former Ambassador-at-Large, responded to today's statement by EU High Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
Specifically, the politician recalled the words of the EU official: "In Tashkent, we signed a project worth 500 million euros. This is an investment of 500 million to connect your energy system with the Georgian one, and we are already working on the Armenia-Turkey energy system. Why? So that you become less dependent on Russian energy. It is also based on our experience. We have now special energy programs for Moldova, Ukraine, and also for you."
In this regard, Marukyan noted that Russia does not supply electricity to Armenia. "Armenia primarily receives its electricity from a nuclear power plant, as well as hydroelectric and thermal power plants. However, they are trying to make us dependent on Turkey for energy first, and then force us to close the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant, which we have already discussed many times. If you truly want to help, then support us in building a second nuclear power plant in our country. This is a crime against Armenian statehood, our sovereignty, and our people. Those who support this process are making Armenia dependent on Turkey for energy," the leader of the Bright Armenia party believes.
