ArmInfo. One of the directions for accelerated economic development in Armenia by 2031 could be the consolidation of all micro-strategies into six major ones, as stated by RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan during a government hour in the National Assembly on December 3, in response to a question from Sergey Bagratyan, a member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract faction.
The deputy, particularly, inquired about the possibility of doubling the country's economy in the next five years and through which specific areas.
Papoyan noted that this consolidation should be considered in the context of two global policies: economic development and infrastructure development. In the long term, it is also crucial to ensure high and sustainable annual GDP growth rates-in the range of 6%-7%. This is already being actively pursued through investments in infrastructure and human capital development.
Much is said, for example, about infrastructure investments-the construction of roads, schools, kindergartens, medical centers, reservoirs, etc.-but considerable attention is also being paid to the development of human capital and technology. Three major technology assistance programs, totaling $1.5 billion, are already being implemented, benefiting tens of thousands of citizens.
