
ArmInfo. In January-October 2025, Armenia's trade sector generated revenue of 5.3 trillion drams ($13.7 billion), decelerating in year-on-year growth from 18.8% to 3.2%.
According to data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the slowdown in the trade sector's growth was due to a slowdown in wholesale and retail trade. Specifically, wholesale trade saw its year-on-year growth decline in January-October 2025, from 26.3% to 2.5%, reaching 3.5 trillion drams. Retail trade growth slowed from 8.5% to 4.2%, with revenue of 1.6 trillion drams.
Automobile sales and purchases during the reporting period grew by 7.9% (from a 6.3% decline the previous year), generating revenue of 213.7 billion drams. Within the retail structure, stores (including supermarkets) accounted for the largest turnover - 83.9%, or 1.4 trillion drams (with an annual growth of 4%). Other retail outlets follow in far behind with 10.8% or 175.5 billion drams (with an annual growth of 8.3%), consumer goods markets with 3.3% or 53.3 billion drams (with an annual decline of 4.1%), stalls and kiosks with 1.2% or 19.4 billion drams (with an annual growth of 2.9%), and agricultural markets with 0.8% or 13.7 billion drams (with an annual growth of 2%).
Wholesale trade dominates Armenia's total trade turnover with 65.5%, while retail trade accounts for 30.5%, with automobile trade accounting for the remaining 4%. The average exchange rate of the dram to the US dollar in January-October 2025 was AMD 388.06/1$, and in October it was AMD 382.71/ $1.
