
ArmInfo. The Georgian government intends to fully complete the construction of roads connecting Azerbaijan and Armenia with Turkey by 2026, as part of the Middle Corridor project.
The Middle Corridor is a route that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and onward to European countries.
According to the government's plans, outlined in the 2026 budget, it is planned to fully complete the Rustavi-Red Bridge and Algeti-Sadakhlo sections leading to the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and to build the Batumi-Sarpi road leading to the Turkish border.
"The implementation of these projects will complete the construction of sections of the Middle Corridor connecting Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey," the document states, Georgia-Online reports. The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route was established in February 2014 with the participation of leading maritime and rail transport companies from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Georgia.
The corridor currently runs from the Chinese-Kazakh border through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to Europe. Georgia joined the Middle Corridor in 2022. Turkey initiated the inclusion of Georgia in the corridor as part of the transit route.
