
ArmInfo. On January 19, Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Tommy Pigott, Principal Deputy Spokesperson for U.S. Department of State, reported.
Secretary Rubio commended the Azerbaijani government's shipments of fuel to Armenia, an important gesture that demonstrates Azerbaijan's continued commitment to the historic peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan advanced by President Trump at the White House summit on August 8, 2025. The Secretary and Foreign Minister touched on other confidence-building measures to further advance peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus region and lauded positive developments in U.S.-Azerbaijani relations.
According to Armenian authorities, in accordance with the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, exports of petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia have begun. Specifically, the first shipment consisted of 22 railcars of AI-95 gasoline produced by SOCAR, weighing a total of 1,300 tons, and was delivered to Armenia at the end of December 2025.
A similar agreement was reached at a meeting on November 28 in Gabala between Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. Armenian authorities stated that the export of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia is purely commercial in nature, and the gasoline will be sold at prices in line with international market prices.
