ArmInfo. Approximately 900 researchers involved in Research and Development (R&D) programs in Armenia are now subject to a reduced 10% income tax, down from the previous 20%, as reported by Armenian Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan on his Facebook page. According to him, there are currently 67 organizations in the country implementing approximately 80 distinct R&D projects.
"R&D programs are one of the key drivers of the modern economy, promoting innovation, technological progress, and enhancing long-term competitiveness. The legislative initiatives adopted in Armenia in 2025 demonstrate that the state attaches strategic importance to R&D activities, viewing them as a fundamental element of economic growth, high-tech development, and the improvement of the investment climate," the head of the department said.
Hayrapetyan recalled that current regulations also provide for accelerated depreciation for fixed assets acquired through R&D, but for no less than one year, allowing companies for a faster return on investments. Companies can also deduct 200% of specialists' salaries from taxable profits, effectively doubling the tax benefit from payroll expenses.
