As part of the Romexpo 2026 international exhibition, Lusine Gevorgyan, Chairperson of the Armenian Tourism Committee, met with Laurentiu Viorel Ghide, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism of Romania, Alin Grigore, Director General of the General Directorate of Tourism, and Dumitru Vaduva, Member of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania.
The parties discussed the potential to expand Armenian- Romanian cooperation in tourism, emphasizing the significance of the direct flights from Bucharest to Yerevan operated by Wizz Air.
Particular attention was paid to organizing familiarization visits (FAM trips) for media representatives, bloggers, and influencers, as well as exchanging lists of tour operators from the two countries to develop practical cooperation. They also discussed the possibility of holding an online meeting betweenArmenian and Romanian tour operators in 2026 to further enhance their collaboration.
The Armenian side presented an event focused on medical tourism planned for the fall of 2026 in Armenia and extended an invitation to representatives of the Romanian public and private sectors to participate. Additionally, the interlocutors discussed the exchange of artificial intelligence solutions in tourism, as well as digitalization processes in the industry, including the creation of an electronic registry of tourism service providers. Following the meeting, they expressed their willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in tourism and fully realize the existing potential.
Note, according to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, 4,920 tourists from Romania visited Armenia in 2025, an 87.2% increase compared to the previous year.
