Amazon Becomes Largest US Company by Annual Revenue, Surpassing Walmart

ArmInfo. Amazon.com Inc. surpassed Walmart Inc. in revenue last year, becoming the largest US company by this metric.

According to Walmart's financial results released yesterday, its revenue for the fiscal year ending January 31 was $713.2 billion. Amazon had previously reported annual revenue for 2025 of $716.9 billion. Walmart's revenue increased by 4.7%, while Amazon's grew by 12.4%.

According to PYMNTS Intelligence, Amazon accounts for approximately 9% of all retail sales in the US, while Walmart's share is approximately 7.6%.

Walmart has held the lead in annual revenue since 2001, when it surpassed oil producer Exxon Mobil.

Amazon was founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos as an online bookstore. The company has since grown into a leading online retailer, as well as a provider of cloud services and AI technologies. Amazon also produces its own electronic devices, clothing, and food products, owns a streaming service, and produces films and television series.

Amazon shares rose 0.3% in pre-market trading on Friday, while Walmart shares also rose 0.3%. Amazon's market capitalization is $2.2 trillion, while Walmart's is $995 billion. (INTERFAX)
