Eurasian vector remains key one in Armenia`s foreign economic  relations by 2025 end - RF trade rep

ArmInfo. Marianna Mkrtchyan. The Eurasian vector remains key in Armenia's foreign economic relations, as evidenced by the results of 2025. This was stated by Russia's Trade Representative to Armenia, Sergey Solomin, on February 26 in Yerevan  during his speech at the opening of the international analytical  program "Eurasian Dialogue. Armenia."

According to him, when discussing the Eurasian Economic Union, it is  important to move away from abstract concepts and consider it, first  and foremost, as a practical economic instrument that currently  yields measurable results for national economies, including  Armenia's.

"The country's total foreign trade turnover amounted to over $21  billion, of which a significant portion- $8.2 billion-was with EAEU  member states. Armenia's exports exceeded $8 billion, of which over  $3 billion went to the EAEU market. Russia, meanwhile, maintains its  status as Armenia's main trading partner. Armenian exports to Russia  in 2025 amounted to approximately $3 billion, clearly demonstrating  that the EAEU market for Armenia is not just a theoretical  opportunity, but a truly functioning economic space," Solomin noted.

He also emphasized that today the EAEU is not only about trade in  goods, but also industrial cooperation, technology and IT projects,  joint educational programs, the development of digital services and  electronic platforms, participation in cross-border production  chains, and new logistics routes. According to Solomin, for Armenia,  with its strong human capital, developed IT sector, and  export-oriented business, Eurasian integration opens up opportunities  for scaling national solutions to a market of hundreds of millions of  consumers.

"For its part, the Russian Trade Mission in Armenia sees its key task  as translating Eurasian integration into concrete projects  understandable to business and industry. We are working to ensure  that EAEU instruments are used in practice, not just in words," he  said.

According to the RA Statistics Committee, foreign trade turnover  between Armenia and the EAEU countries decreased by 36.9% in 2025,  exceeding $8 billion. Exports decreased by 5% to $3.2 billion, while  imports fell by 48.5% to $4.8 billion. Mutual trade with Russia  during the reporting period declined by 38.3%, amounting to $7.6  billion. Exports declined by 6.9% to $2.9 billion, while imports fell  by 49.2% to $4.7 billion.
