ArmInfo.Mopeds, tricycles, and ATVs will also be subject to mandatory insurance in Armenia. At its March 2 meeting, the National Assembly Committee on Security and Defense approved the first reading of amendments to the law "On Compulsory Motor Third-Party Liability Insurance" (CMTPLI) submitted by the government.
Presenting the amendments, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan emphasized the recent trend of increasing road accidents involving mopeds, tricycles, and ATVs. As of March 1, 2,594 two- wheeled mopeds, 29 three-wheeled mopeds, and 127 tricycles and ATVs were officially registered in the country. As a result, their frequency on the country's roads is rapidly increasing, yet only a small portion of this type of vehicle is insured. The proposed regulation, as the deputy minister noted, will allow for more precise monitoring of the country's roads. Monitoring will be carried out by both technical means and the Ministry of Internal Affairs Patrol Service.
