
ArmInfo.World Bank Country Director for Armenia Fabrizio Zarkone, at a meeting with Arsen Torosyan, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, in Yerevan, reaffirmed the Bank's commitment to developing the country's social protection system and advancing the "Job Creation and Social Inclusion" program.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Labor, the two sides discussed a number of issues related to the process and results of existing cooperation in the field of labor and social protection. In particular, they noted the importance of the work being carried out in Armenia to create jobs and stimulate the labor market.
Tonoyan and Zarkone also explored the possibility of implementing joint initiatives within the framework of the "Job Creation and Social Inclusion" program. In this regard, the World Bank Country Director for Armenia presented the scope of the program's activities, confirming their alignment with the country's sectoral priorities.
Since the beginning of its work in Armenia (in 1992), the World Bank has provided the country with approximately $2.7 billion from the International Development Association (IDA), of which Armenia became a donor in 2023, and from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and trust funds.
