By 2026, Armenia`s population to reach 3.1 million

ArmInfo.Armenia's population will reach 3.097 million by 2026, showing a 0.7% increase, or 20,800 people, compared to the 2025 estimate, according to data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

During the reporting year, the population of Yerevan saw a slight  increase of 0.6%, reaching 1.148 million.  Thus, the capital now  represents 37.1% of the country's total population.

According to statistics, the urban population is expected to reach  1.981 million by 2026, with an annual growth rate of 0.5%. The rural  population grew by 1% during the reporting year, exceeding 1.116  million people.

Out of the total number of citizens in Armenia, 64% live in urban  areas (of which 58% live in Yerevan), while the rural population  makes up 36%.

According to statistics, the most densely populated regions are  Kotayk Province with a population of 297.300, and two regions near  the capital: Ararat (270.700) and Armavir (270.500). Next come Shirak  with a population of 242.300, Lori with 229.400, and Gegharkunik with  217.300. Aragatsotn has a population of 136.100, Syunik - 118.300,  and Tavush - 118,000. Vayots Dzor remains the most sparsely populated  region of the country, with a population of only 49.500.
