
ArmInfo. On March 25, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation in Armenia, led by the head of the mission, Alexander Timan.
The parties discussed Armenia's economic development priorities, ongoing reforms, and the main risks to the economic outlook. Views were exchanged on key issues, including the export strategy for 2025-2030, expanding the participation of Armenian companies in international markets, legislative and institutional reforms, investment policy, and the implementation of major investment projects.
They also discussed the establishment of industrial and free economic zones, the strategic program for enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses for 2026-2030, and the development of the capital market. The meeting also addressedrecent regional developments and efforts to unblock borders.
Deputy Minister Anushik Avetyan and IMF Resident Representative in Armenia Umang Rawat were also present at the meeting.
It should be noted that, according to the IMF's December 2025 updated forecast, Armenia's GDP growth will be 5.5% in 2026. Regarding Armenia's foreign trade, the IMF forecast predicts exports and imports to grow at a nearly flat rate of 2.2-2.1% in 2026, with a further moderate acceleration in 2027 to 3.4-3.7%.
