ArmInfo. The Armenian Ministry of Economy is developing a subsidy program for the agricultural sector amid a possible rise in gasoline prices. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated this during a briefing on the sidelines of the 8th Congress of the Civil Contract Party (CCP).
"Oil prices cannot double without this affecting gasoline prices. This is objective," he emphasized. Without detailing the terms of the program, Papoyan noted that it concerns subsidizing the purchase of diesel fuel for agriculture. Answering journalists' questions, the minister stated that restrictions on Russian gasoline imports will not have any impact on Armenia's economy due to the existing quota within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
"In fact, we currently import gasoline from Russia in small quantities; we import more European gasoline, some from Iran, and some from Azerbaijan," he noted.
As a reminder, the Russian government has imposed temporary restrictions on gasoline exports. The decision came into effect in early April 2026 and will remain in effect until July 31. The restrictions apply to petroleum product producers and are aimed at stabilizing the domestic fuel market. However, supplies under intergovernmental agreements are not subject to the ban.
