Mkhitar Hayrapetyan: Building a digital society and economy is a  strategic priority

ArmInfo. The development of a digital society and digital economy is a strategic priority for us, as stated by Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, speaking at the DOING DIGITAL forum on April 8.

He expressed his conviction that secure, open, and transparent data,  appropriate infrastructure, and an environment of trust are the  prerequisite and foundation for improving the well-being and  sustainability of the population and economic development.

"The government clearly understands that digital transformation is  aimed at simplifying the lives of citizens, creating a predictable  environment for businesses, protecting consumer data, developing  infrastructure, and creating a new environment for the development of  technology and innovation," the Minister said. He also emphasized  that digital transformation is not just about simplifying processes  but also about stimulating innovation in Armenia. "I believe the  digital transformation agenda is the best platform for technology  companies, engineers, and researchers. While Armenia may seem like a  small market for businesses at first glance, small markets have a  significant advantage: they constantly generate new ideas, pose new  challenges, allow for experimentation, analyzing mistakes, and  refining solutions. In this sense, Armenia is the optimal environment  for fostering innovation for our tech community," Hayrapetyan  emphasized.

He noted that public policy should shape the needs of the tech  community, and one of the key outcomes of this interaction will be  the stimulation of innovation. "As we're addressing complex  challenges, we need to create new knowledge and develop innovation  within the country. In this way, we're building a connection with the  technology community: digital transformation is creating new  requirements not only for startups and the technology sector, but  also for multinational companies and international players, offering  a unique, flexible environment to test new ideas and implement  solutions," the Minister concluded.
