ArmInfo. The Yerevan Municipality intends to purchase 45 new trolleybuses. At its meeting on May 7, the RA government decided to exempt Yerevan Electric Transport CJSC from customs duties on imported vehicles.
The rationale for the draft decision emphasizes that, in order to ensure regular transportation for the capital's residents, Yerevan Electric Transport CJSC plans to operate trolleybus routes with 45 new trolleybuses. The project involves importing 45 YUTONG BUS ZK6128BEVG trolleybuses, including those adapted for transporting people with disabilities, with 25+3 soft seats, a capacity of at least 85 passengers, and autonomous controls. The trolleybuses are equipped with heating and cooling systems. The new batch of vehicles will expand rolling stock on five urban public transport routes and significantly increase the number of users of high-quality ground electric transport services. The development of the trolleybus network will also relieve congestion on some public transport routes, ensuring safe and reliable transportation of residents by environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
The project plans to invest 4.3 billion drams in the purchase of trolleybuses. The company currently employs 245 people with an average monthly salary of 375,000 drams. The number of jobs created under the investment program is planned to increase to 280, with an average monthly salary of 391,000 drams. The customs duty exemption benefit is estimated at 432 million drams.
As a reminder, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan previously reported that 22 of the 45 trolleybuses have already been delivered, with the remaining trolleybuses expected to be delivered in the near future. It is planned that by the end of May, all the equipment will be on city routes, which will no longer be served by old trolleybuses inherited from Soviet times.
