ArmInfo.  Amazing developments are taking place in Armenia's tourism sector. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at a government meeting on May 7.

According to him, in April of this year alone, there was a 39%  increase in tourist visits to the country compared to April 2025.  Since the beginning of 2026, compared to January-April of the  previous year, this figure will be 34%. "I have asked several times  how realistic these figures are, but I have been assured of the  veracity of the information provided," Pashinyan said.

Commenting on the above figures, RA Minister of Economy Gevork  Papoyan emphasized that the ministry receives data from authorized  agencies on visitors crossing the country's borders. Even a truck  driver who spends a couple of days in Armenia is considered a  tourist. This, Papoyan noted, is a generally accepted international  standard.

The minister also listed the countries with the largest tourist flow,  noting the diversification of their geography. For example, while in  January-April 2023, the share of tourists from Russia was 52%, this  year this figure dropped to 36%. In 2024, tourists from the Russian  Federation also predominated (42%). At the same time, there has been  an increase in visits from India, Italy, France, China, the United  States, Germany, Ukraine, Iran, and Georgia. For example, while in  2019, the number of tourists from Italy in the total tourist flow was  0.4%, this figure has now increased to over 1%.

Against this backdrop, the prime minister pointed to the country's  tourism boom, which will continue and grow, and all the preconditions  for this are in place. Tourism company executives, the prime minister  continued, must be very attentive to this process, as it involves  significant financial flows that they must channel to their  companies.
