ArmInfo.Armenia's metallurgical industry saw a significant rebound in the first quarter of 2026, with production volumes increasing by 18.9% compared to the same period in 2025.
This marks a sharp recovery from the 20% decline recorded a year ago. According to data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the positive shift in dynamics is primarily attributed to a resurgence in the dominant sectors of the industry: copper and molybdenum concentrates: The industry's primary outputs returned to growth, acting as the main engine for the overall sectoral increase; zinc concentrate: Maintained its steady upward trajectory throughout the quarter; finished products: continued growth was also observed in the manufacturing of steel pipes, hollow profiles, and fittings.
Specifically, copper concentrate production in Armenia increased by 20.3% year-on-year (compared to a 23.7% decline a year ago), reaching 73,000 tons. Molybdenum concentrate production also increased by 30.6% year-on-year (compared to a 26.9% decline the previous year), reaching 3,146,300 tons.
Production of steel pipes, hollow sections, and fittings accelerated its annual growth rate from 11.4% to 29.4%, reaching 6,996,600 tons. Zinc production slowed in its annual growth rate from 23.6% to 13.7%, reaching 3,372,000 tons. Meanwhile, ferromolybdenum production accelerated in its annual decline from 30.7% to 61.7%, reaching 324.4 tons. Aluminum foil production slowed in its annual decline, from 5.3% to 1.3%, reaching 4,623,700 tons. All metals produced in Armenia are exported primarily to Europe and the USA.
