
ArmInfo. In Armenia, the service sector's annual growth slowed from 11.5% to 7.4%, generating revenue of AMD 981.7 ($2.6 billion) in Q1 2026. According to the RA Statistics Committee, in March alone, service sector revenue increased by 12.6% to 351.4 billion drams ($931.2 million).
This annual trend was driven by slower growth in dominant sectors—information and communications, the financial sector, as well as real estate and healthcare. At the same time, education services began to decline. Specifically, the year-on-year growth of services provided by the information and communications sector slowed from 18% to 7.2%, the financial sector from 20.1% to 2.1%, real estate from 17.4% to 9.6%, and healthcare from 7.9% to 3.2%. Education services decreased by 2.3% (compared to 5.8% growth a year ago).
Other sectors saw an acceleration in the growth rate of services provided. Specifically, the culture, entertainment, and recreation sector accelerated from 3.8% to 8%, catering and tourism from 5.1% to 9.5%, administrative and support activities from 9.8% to 20.3%, and professional and scientific activities from 7.1% to 13%. In the transportation sector, services provided grew by 19.3% (from a 10.6% decline a year ago).
The financial sector leads in terms of service volume, with AMD 310.9 billion (31.7% of the total). Information and communications services ranked second, with AMD 202.7 billion (20.6% of the total). Transportation ranked third, with AMD 114.9 billion (11.7% of the total). Catering and tourism ranked fourth, with AMD 83.4 billion (8.5% of the total). Culture, entertainment, and recreation rounded out the top five, with AMD 74.8 billion (7.6% of the total). The average exchange rate of the dram in the first quarter of 2026 was AMD 378.30/$1, and in March – AMD 377.36/$1.
