ArmInfo. As part of the fight against tax violations and economic crimes, employees of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia conducted large-scale investigative operations against individuals engaged in the purchase and sale of cryptoassets, as well as individuals providing services using cryptoassets.
According to the agency's press service, the operational and investigative measures were aimed at identifying cases of licensed activities, as well as cases of illegal entrepreneurial activity by individuals without state registration. It is worth noting that these measures have yielded tangible results. For example, as a result of these operations, it was discovered that two economic entities were engaged in the purchase and sale of cryptoassets without the appropriate license. The reports drawn up in these cases have been sent to the State Revenue Committee's legal department for discussion of administrative liability.
It was also established that 14 individuals without state registration were engaged in the purchase and sale of cryptoassets, and some provided services using cryptoassets. Based on the factual information obtained, reports were drawn up and sent to the State Revenue Committee's legal department for discussion of administrative liability for these individuals for illegal activity. Furthermore, one case of overt economic crime was recorded in this area. Therefore, a crime report was sent to the Investigative Committee for discussion of initiating a criminal case. As a result of the measures taken against seven taxpayers, cases of underreporting of sales revenue were identified. The latter have agreed to submit corrected calculations, having previously declared underreported revenue. It should be noted that, following these revelations, information regarding individuals engaged in the purchase and sale of cryptoassets and individuals providing services using cryptoassets was also forwarded to the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia for further action.
"The Committee strongly urges individuals engaged in the purchase and sale of cryptoassets or providing services in this sector to strictly comply with the requirements of the Laws of the Republic of Armenia 'On Cryptoassets,' 'On Licensing,' and other legal acts regulating this sector," the State Revenue Committee stated.
