
ArmInfo. In 2025, 25,670 foreign nationals were granted citizenship of the Republic of Armenia, accounting for 78% of the total number of applications filed. According to data from the Statistical Committee, this figure represents a 23.5% increase compared to 2024.
Citizens of the Russian Federation constitute the largest group among those granted Armenian citizenship, totaling 7,377 individuals (29%). They are followed by citizens of Georgia (6.7%), Iran and the Syrian Arab Republic (2.5% each), Turkey (1.9%), Lebanon and Ukraine (1.6% each), the United States (0.5%), and Germany and Belarus (0.3% each), among others. During the same period, 4,906 individuals filed applications to renounce their citizenship, an 18% increase over the previous year.
According to data from the Passport and Visa Department of the RA Police, 5,361 individuals have registered for residency in the Republic of Armenia during the first quarter of 2026, which marks a 36% decrease compared to the same period last year. The majority of these individuals were citizens of the Russian Federation, Georgia, Syria, and other nations. Concurrently, 5,973 people deregistered (a year-on- year decrease of 35%), the vast majority of whom were citizens of Russia, Georgia, France, and Germany.
