Armenia and Vietnam have identified several promising areas for future economic cooperation, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, citing the outcomes of a meeting between Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Arman Khojoyan and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Phan Thi Thang. The Deputy Minister is in Armenia to participate in the 2nd meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation between Armenia and Vietnam.
The two sides identified the following as priority areas for bilateral engagement: trade and commerce, food Processing and agriculture, information technology (IT) and light Industry.
According to the source, they discussed several issues related to deepening economic cooperation between the two countries, strengthening existing ties, and developing new areas of collaboration, emphasizing the need to more effectively utilize untapped bilateral economic potential. Armen Khojoyan noted that Armenia's current economic policy is centered on strengthening resilience and competitiveness through diversification. A specific point of discussion included the potential for increasing exports of Armenian brandy (cognac) to the Vietnamese market.
He presented the government's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, aimed at fostering a more connected, stable, and cooperative environment in the South Caucasus by unlocking and developing transport and economic links.
Note, according to the latest data from the Customs Service, in the first half of 2025, the customs value of goods exported from Armenia to Vietnam nearly doubled, reaching $1.4 million. The value of imported goods increased by 4.7% during the reporting period, reaching $460 million.
