Joint crossing point to be established on Armenian-Georgian border -  SRC

ArmInfo.A joint crossing point will be established on the Armenian-Georgian border. The details of the new facility were discussed during a three-day working  meeting organized as part of the " Border Crossing Point Modernization and Joint Control Implementation " project, implemented in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

According to the press service of the State Revenue Committee of the  Republic of Armenia, during the meeting , SRC Deputy Chairman  Rafael  Gevorgyan emphasized that the establishment of a joint crossing point  is of strategic importance for Armenia, as it will be the first joint  control point on the Armenian- Georgian border. As part of the  program, extensive work has already been carried out to analyze  border crossing processes and assess needs. Specifically, the  Gogavan-Guguti border crossing point on the Armenian-Georgian border  was selected as the pilot project site. Among the options discussed,  preference was given to the "Integrated Facility" model.

During the meetings, several key issues related to the establishment  and operation of the joint border crossing point are planned to be  discussed, including standard operating procedures, information  exchange and management systems, as well as  issues related to the  technical design of the joint border crossing point. It is also worth  noting that a similar meeting was already organized by the Asian  Development Bank (ADB) with its Georgian partners.

The agreements reached as a result of these meetings will serve as  the foundation for drafting the agreement on the establishment of a  joint crossing point between Armenia and Georgia.
