ArmInfo. The scope of application of electronic cash registers will be expanded in Armenia. At its May 20 meeting, the RA National Assembly Committee on Economic Affairs approved the amendments to the Tax Code submitted by the RA government for the first reading.
Presenting the amendments, Eduard Hakobyan, Chairman of the RA State Revenue Committee, noted that electronic cash registers will be considered as an alternative to traditional cash registers. According to Hakobyan, alongside technological development and the growth of digital services, there is a need to expand the scope of application of electronic cash registers, transforming them into an alternative to traditional cash registers, allowing for the same functions to be performed in a simpler and more modern manner. Specifically, it is proposed to unify all provisions related to cash registers and electronic cash registers, which will apply to both types of devices.
It is also proposed to adopt a regulatory act under which the government will define the technical requirements for electronic cash registers, the procedure for registering and deregistering them, and the rules for their use. The document also clarifies the areas of activity, cases, and timeframes when the use of electronic cash registers is mandatory for organizations, individual entrepreneurs, and notaries when making sales, performing work, or providing services.
