ArmInfo. To effectively organize the export of aquaculture products from Armenia, particularly fish and fishery products, to European Union countries, appropriate regulatory standards will be established by law. At its May 20 meeting, the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs approved the amendments to the laws "On Food Safety" and "On State Control over Food Safety" submitted by the RA government for the first reading.
As RA Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan noted in her speech, the Republic of Armenia has officially received permission to export aquaculture products, particularly fish and fishery products, to the European Union as of April 2025. According to the European Commission Regulation, economic operators exporting fish and fishery products must apply for registration in the European Union's Trade Inspection and Expertise System (TRACES) if they meet EU standards. The package of laws stipulates that the Food Safety Inspectorate is the authorized body for registration in the aforementioned system. If the operator complies with the requirements set by both the inspection body and EU regulations, the inspection body registers the operator's data in the system and submits it to the European Commission for approval.
Following the adoption of these bills, it will be possible to draft and submit a corresponding package of draft resolutions to the RA Government for approval, which will align national legislation with European Union regulatory requirements. This will serve as a guarantee for fulfilling international obligations regarding the export of fish and fish products to the European Union.
