RA government to provide assistance to agricultural exporters - premier

ArmInfo. The RA government will provide assistance to agricultural exporters to ensure there are no victims in Armenia due to sanctions. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this during a campaign in the Gegharknik region.

According to him, a program is being developed to subsidize the losses Armenian producers will incur as a result of "unfair obstacles." Calling on farmers to focus more on producing high-quality products that meet international standards, Pashinyan noted that those affected by these "unfair obstacles" will not be left alone to face their problems. Assistance will also be provided to improve the quality of their produce.

The prime minister noted that every cloud has a silver lining: the Armenian delegation is currently negotiating the redirection of exports to other markets. "Our international partners have responded quickly to our problems: the issue of flower exports and fruit and vegetable purchases will be resolved very soon.  The problem is that the volumes of produce produced in the country are insignificant: enough for just one large European supermarket," Pashinyan said, adding that Armenia will rejoin all EAEU structures after the elections.

He noted that the authorities will continue their policy of diversifying exports. It should be noted that the day before, Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) restricted the import of stone fruits and grapes from Armenia to Russia. Furthermore, Russia banned the import of Armenian flowers from May 22, fruits and vegetables from May 30, and live fish from June 2, except for two licensed fish farms.
