ArmInfo.Armenian authorities are extending the temporary ban on wheat exports to non-EAEU member states for six months. The decision was made at a government meeting on June 11.
The rationale for the draft resolution emphasizes that the decision is aimed at ensuring food security in the Republic of Armenia. Domestic production of this product does not meet market demand in the Republic of Armenia, which is primarily met through imports. The ban does not apply to goods imported into and exported from Armenia through the "Re-export" customs procedure. It should be noted that the RA government decree of December 25, 2025, imposed a temporary export ban for six months, expiring on July 6, 2026. This draft decree proposes extending the export ban for another six months.
Another government decision extends the temporary ban on the export of ceramic waste from used automotive catalysts for another six months. The restrictions also take effect on July 6. This measure is aimed at improving environmental safety, specifically reducing harmful emissions from vehicles without exhaust aftertreatment systems. Furthermore, the authorities believe it is necessary to continue combating the illegal trafficking of automotive catalysts and preventing their theft.
The government notes that the number of automotive catalyst thefts has decreased sharply since the introduction of the export ban in 2023. While 92 such cases were registered in 2021 and 40 in 2022, only three thefts have been recorded over the entire period of restrictions.
