
ArmInfo. Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hakobyan met with Foroud Asgari, Head of the Iranian Customs Administration.
According to the diplomatic mission, the parties discussed the further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Iran, as well as the implementation of measures aimed at simplifying trade procedures.
They also addressed the operations of the Meghri-Norduz border crossing points, exploring opportunities for improving border procedures and increasing the efficiency of cargo transportation. In this context, the importance of close cooperation between the customs authorities of both countries was emphasized.
It should be noted that according to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in January-April 20256 increased by 6.7%, amounting to $237.4 million. At the same time, the volume of export deliveries decreased by 20.7% to $25.1 million, against the background of an increase in imports by 11.2% to $212.3 million.
