ArmInfo. Armenian authorities are exploring new opportunities to expand the export of domestic products to EU markets. During a plenary session on June 17, the RA NA discussed, in the first reading, amendments to the law "On Food Safety" and a package of related documents proposed by the government.
In her address, Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan noted that as of 2025, Armenia has gained the opportunity to export aquaculture fish, caviar, and other fish products to EU countries. However, according to EC regulations, local companies must be registered in the European electronic control system, TRACES, to facilitate these shipments.
The Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia is responsible for overseeing inspections and ensuring that farms comply with EU regulations. To register in the system, business entities must submit applications to the Inspection Body. The body will then conduct on-site inspections; if the results are positive, the application is submitted to the European Commission for approval. Resolving issues related to the safety of domestic products will enable the unimpeded supply of fish and fish products to the European market. As of now, five applications have already been submitted by five companies.
