ArmInfo. The acquisition of GNC Alfa by telecom operator Viva Armenia will be completed in the coming days. This was announced by Gegham Gevorgyan, Chairman of the Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, at the plenary session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on June 18.
According to him, the Commission has approved the deal. As Gevorgyan noted, both companies hold a significant share of the telecommunications market, and for this reason, the regulator's approval was required. The head of the Commission stated that both companies jointly intend to create a large data center in the country, which means attracting new and significant investment.
Furthermore, as Gevorkyan noted, three companies-Coca-Cola, Jermuk, and the Yerevan Brandy Factory-jointly applied to the commission to establish a joint venture to implement environmental projects.
Such requests, as the head of the Commission noted, are the first, despite the fact that similar cases are common worldwide, where joint synergy is needed to address specific issues.
