Mkhitar Hayrapetyan on AI data center in Gagarin as result of many  years of consistent work

ArmInfo. "We arrived at this step by step - through mistakes and constant effort. This project is not a sudden breakthrough, but the result of many years of consistent  work," Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry of  Armenia, told Forbes, commenting on the launch of a new data center  for artificial intelligence (AI) in Gagarin, equipped with  cutting-edge NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs.

"And the fact that we weren't afraid to fail was one of the  prerequisites for today's success," he emphasized.  The minister  noted that everything began with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan's interaction with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang in Silicon  Valley in 2019 and continued with Huang's visit to Armenia in 2023.   According to Hayrapetyan, these discussions focused not only on AI  but also on creating the infrastructure and competencies necessary  for its development.

He also added that the memorandum on cooperation in artificial  intelligence and semiconductor innovation signed between Armenia and  the United States in 2025 gave these efforts a broader diplomatic and  commercial framework. He also emphasized that the current  achievements are the result of a long process of experimentation,  institutional development, and consistent work.

The publication notes that Armenia is striving to transform  electricity, engineering potential, and computing infrastructure into  new export products. According to the publication, the data center is  equipped with 512 NVIDIA Blackwell B300 processors, representing some  of the most powerful AI hardware solutions available today.
