Prospects for green hydrogen production development discussed in  Armenia

ArmInfo. On June 29, a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was held to discuss the prospects for developing green hydrogen production in Armenia.

The government's press service noted that during the fifth session of  the Investment Committee, a decision was made to establish a hydrogen  working group tasked with developing the green hydrogen sector and  exploring its benefits, methods, and production technologies. It was  emphasized that the purpose of this meeting was to review proposals  developed based on research conducted by the working group and  consulting firms regarding the development of green hydrogen  production in the country.

During the meeting, the legal framework for green hydrogen  development and its potential applications were presented. Discussion  also touched upon long-term strategic decisions aimed at  decarbonizing the energy system, preventing emissions, and meeting  green taxonomy requirements. Detailed programmatic proposals for  green hydrogen production were presented, specifically the results of  feasibility studies on production and integration conducted by  consulting firms BDO Advisory and Civitta. Additionally, short- term,  medium-term, and long-term scenarios for the development of clean  hydrogen production were reviewed. The research and proposals were  discussed, and feedback was provided regarding methods for producing  clean hydrogen within the context of energy transformation.

Prime Minister Pashinyan underscored the importance of the research  conducted by the working group and the consulting firms. He noted the  necessity of implementing a pilot project for clean hydrogen  production in cooperation with the scientific community, taking into  account international best practices. The Prime Minister instructed  that a report on the progress made toward the implementation of the  pilot project be submitted in the near future.
