The Ministry of Technology and Industry of Armenia and the Civil Operations Headquarters of the European External Action Service (EEAS) confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation to develop Armenia's digital sector and cybersecurity, strengthen institutional capacity, and implement joint initiatives. This was reported by the ministry's press service, citing the results of a meeting between Deputy Minister Gevorg Mantashyan and the EU delegation led by EEAS Executive Director Stefano Tomat, who arrived from Brussels.
Mantashyan welcomed the official launch of the European Union Partnership Mission in Armenia, operating under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), noting that he highly values the established partnership between Armenia and the European Union and attaches great importance to the mission's activities aimed at strengthening the country's institutional capacity.
The European side, in turn, presented the mission's priorities and main areas of activity, emphasizing that its goal is to support Armenian government agencies in developing institutional capacity. It was noted that the mission intends to provide strategic and operational advice, conduct expert assessments, organize training, and implement technical assistance programs, contributing to the increased effectiveness and readiness of state institutions. Furthermore, the parties discussed the exchange of experience with EU member states, the development of professional cooperation, and Armenia's possible participation in European initiatives to strengthen connectivity.
Gevorg Mantashyan presented the Armenian government's policy aimed at fostering a digital society and economy, developing reliable information systems, strengthening cybersecurity, and improving public policy in this area. Special attention was paid to ongoing artificial intelligence initiatives, legislative reforms, the application of artificial intelligence technologies in public administration, and their potential in the context of developing cybersecurity capabilities.
