ArmInfo. A data classification system will be created in Armenia. This decision was made at a government meeting on July 16. The draft law was presented by Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Gevorg Mantashyan.
The creation of the system stems from the problems that have arisen in servicing the digital agenda, which became apparent after the adoption of the Law on Public Information.
"We are creating a data standard that should be used in a data anthology for their entry, storage, and subsequent use. This is an imperative for state data, which will clarify the mechanisms for working with data so that the system functions fully," said Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. He noted that without this, it is impossible to effectively combat corruption.
Currently, data classifiers are used inconsistently, making it impossible to exchange and use data between government information systems. This necessitated the creation of a corresponding system.
To register in the system, relevant agencies are required to bring their databases into compliance with the requirements of the State Information System (GIS) within six months of the project's entry into force, and to incorporate existing classifiers into the GIS management system within three months.
The Deputy Minister noted that this law also applies to companies providing public services. If the private sector also joins, it must adopt all standards and meet cybersecurity requirements.
He emphasized that this will reduce the risk of data inconsistency and create a unified, clearly defined classification framework, mandatory for use by all entities within the GIS.
