Hosting COP17 is an important opportunity for Armenia not only to organize a high-level international event but also to present the country's technological and innovative potential to international partners. This was stated by Gevorg Mantashyan, Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, during a meeting with Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia.
He noted that the event will also create new opportunities for cooperation and investment in applied science and high technology.
The meeting was held as part of the preparations for and organization of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Armenia from October 19 to 30, 2026. The Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, as a member of the interdepartmental working group preparing for COP17, is participating in the forum's organization, coordinating and ensuring the proper presentation of technological innovations, applied scientific solutions, and the industry's development potential during the event.
During the discussion, the parties discussed the organizational and substantive aspects of conference preparations, exchanged information on priority areas, accompanying events, the technological concept of the national pavilion, and key areas of interaction and coordinated actions.
Particular attention was paid to ensuring the uninterrupted operation of communication and telecommunications systems for delegations during the conference, the readiness of the digital infrastructure, and the implementation of the necessary technological solutions.
Following the meeting, the parties specified further steps in their joint work, determined the timeframe for their implementation, and agreed to continue coordinated collaboration to effectively prepare for and deliver a substantive conference.
