ArmInfo. Amendments to the Law "On Trade and Services" will come into force in Armenia on January 1, 2027. These amendments establish new requirements for the circulation of disposable plastic products. This was announced in a statement by the Market Surveillance Inspection Authority.
In accordance with legislative amendments, effective January 1, 2027, the sale and use of plastic bags and pouches, as well as the sale and use of disposable plastic or foam items, including containers, plates, cups, cup lids, spoons, forks, knives, and chopsticks, will be prohibited in retail outlets, catering establishments, retail outlets, mobile vendors, fairs, exhibitions, and outdoor trading. This prohibition will also apply to plastic bags and pouches thicker than 50 microns.
The law provides an exemption for plastic bags intended for weighing, recycled garbage bags, and plastic containers with lids intended for weighing.
In accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses, violators are subject to administrative liability. "We urge you to take the necessary measures in advance to ensure your operations comply with the legislative requirements that will come into force on January 1, 2027," the Inspectorate's letter to business entities reads.
