Armenia's service sector accelerated its annual growth to 11.0% in the first half of 2026 (up from 9.8% in H1 2025), generating AMD 2.1 trillion ($5.7 billion), according to data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia. In June alone, the volume of services rendered increased 5.7% month-over-month, reaching AMD 415 billion ($1.1 billion).
This growth acceleration was primarily driven by sustained momentum in the volume-leading information and communications and financial sectors, along with a turnaround in transportation services, which rebounded from a contraction back into positive growth. Specifically, the information and communications sector slowed its annual growth from 19% to 12.9%, the financial sector from 16.5% to 8.4%, real estate transactions from 12.6% to 11.3%, and healthcare from 6.6% to 4.2%.
An acceleration in annual growth was recorded in catering services - from 4.4% to 11.4%, culture and entertainment - from 2.3% to 5.7%, administrative and support activities - from 8.4% to 25%, and professional, scientific, and technical activities - from 7.9% to 11.6%. The education sector reversed its momentum from 4.1% growth to a 1% decline, while transportation services, in contrast, recovered from an 11.6% decline to 19.6% growth. The financial sector leads in terms of service volume, accounting for 32.3% or 693.1 billion drams, of which 490.2 billion drams are provided by banks. Information and communications rank second with 20.6% or 443.1 billion drams. Transportation ranks third in terms of service volume with 11.5% or 246.8 billion drams. Fourth place goes to catering and tourism with 8.9% or 192 billion drams. Culture, entertainment, and recreation round out the top five with 7.2% or 155.2 billion drams.
It should be noted that the average exchange rate of the dram against the US dollar in the first half of 2026 was 374.32 AMD/USD, and in June it was 368.26 AMD/USD.
