ArmInfo. In Armenia, the services sector accelerated its year-on-year growth from 10.6% to 13.2% in January-July 2026, generating a volume of 2.6 trillion drams ($6.9 billion). According to data from the RA Statistical Committee, the volume of services provided increased by 2.8% in July alone, reaching 415.6 billion drams ($1.1 billion).
The acceleration in growth was mainly driven by the dominant transport services sector emerging from a 2.8% decline into 20.8% growth, as well as the continuation of an upward trend in a number of areas.
In particular, year-on-year growth in the volume of services provided accelerated in the following sectors: food services — from 4.3% to 12.7%; culture and entertainment — from 2.4% to 4.5%; administrative and support activities — from 9.2% to 24%; and professional, scientific and technical activities — from 7.7% to 12%.
At the same time, growth rates slowed in healthcare services — from 8.2% to 4.4% — and in information and communications — from 19.1% to 15%. Real estate operations maintained their growth rate at 12.1%.
The dynamics of services provided in the education sector deteriorated, shifting from 4.1% growth to a 1% decline.
The financial sector retains the lead in terms of the volume of services provided — 32.9%, or 853.7 billion drams. The information and communications sector ranks second — 20.2%, or 522.9 billion drams. The transport sector ranks third in terms of the volume of services — 11.8%, or 305.6 billion drams. The food services and tourism sector ranks fourth — 9.1%, or 236 billion drams. The top five sectors by volume of services provided is rounded out by culture, entertainment and recreation — 5.1%, or 183.1 billion drams.
It should be noted that the average exchange rate of the dram against the US dollar in January-July 2026 was 373.26 drams per $1, while in July it was 366.89 drams per $1.
