ArmInfo. Economic processes in Armenia are in line with the RA government's forecasts. This was stated by RA Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan on September 9 at a meeting of the RA National Assembly Committee on Financial, Credit, and Budgetary Affairs during the presentation of the state budget execution report for the first half of 2026.
According to the minister, economic activity during the period increased by 7.9%, driven by growth in services, industry, and construction. He also noted that tourism grew by 14.8%, including 23.3% from the Russian Federation and 9.8% from other countries.
Meanwhile, net remittance growth was 21.7%. Remittances from Russia grew by 32.6%, while from other countries, they grew by 8.6%. It should be noted that in the first half of 2026, Armenia's GDP grew by approximately 6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 5.2 trillion drams. The economy grew by 5.2% in the first quarter and by 6.7% in the second. The services, construction, and industry sectors contributed the most. As of June 30, 2026, Armenia's public debt amounted to 5.116 trillion drams. The average inflation rate for January-June was 4.6%. Total exports decreased by 6.7%, while imports grew by 4%, and the trade balance worsened by $480 million.
