ArmInfo. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan participated in a panel discussion at the International Conference on Medical Tourism, titled "Medical Tourism in the New Era: Opportunities, Lessons Learned, and Challenges."
The Minister presented the steps being taken to develop medical tourism, highlighting three key areas: expanding Armenia's international accessibility through air travel and simplifying visa procedures; developing medical and tourism infrastructure through programs to support the acquisition of equipment, as well as the construction and reconstruction of hotels and resorts; The development of new tourism destinations in the regions through seven tourism clusters envisaged under the TRIP program, including in the field of medical tourism.
Gevorg Papoyan noted that the development of medical tourism is important not only for improving the availability and quality of medical services, but also for the Armenian economy, creating new opportunities for investment, service exports, job creation, and other areas of economic development.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the panel discussion was attended by Montenegrin Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić, Armenian Deputy Minister of Health Samvel Kharazyan, High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan, and the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) office in Armenia, Siddhartha Sankar Datta.
